Together FOR Oxford!

To Oxford Residents,

The Oxford Democratic Town Committee is recommending a YES vote in this month’s referendum on the budget.

The budget being voted on represents many hours of hard work on the part of the BOF and the BOE and our town’s First Selectman.  Included in this budget are funds for additional teachers and aides, another class at Oxford’s new high school, and a full year’s funding for Oxford’s new senior center. Included also is interest and debt service to pay for these services.  Also in the budget are legal fees for the on-going appeals of Garden Homes.

Like our own households, the Town in not immune to increases in gasoline, heating, and electric costs.  These are also factored into the budget..

Rising costs to pay insurance fees, contractual obligations, and the cost of conducting everyday business are included in this budget.  This is a lean budget that maintains the functions of both the town and the town’s educational system to a degree that we can all be proud of.

This budget represents less than a 0.96 mil increase in our taxes.  This budget is reasonable and prudent.  Our BOF and BOE and our First Selectman continue to do there best in keeping those rates reasonable.  Please consider voting yes for both the town budget and the education budget.

Thank you

Peter Bunzl

Chairman - Oxford Democratic Town Committee.
