In Connecticut the First Selectman is the chief executive and administrative officer. The First Selectman is also a voting member of the Board of Selectmen. The basic function consists of calling town meetings, calling elections, appointing employees, setting certain fees, overseeing certain volunteer and appointed bodies, and creating basic regulations. Our elected officials and candidates lead and manage a bipartisan government in an open, fair and professional manner. They must continue a fiscally responsible approach to progress and economic growth while adhering to Oxford’s Long Range Plan. They promote and support stability through solid and open relationships with residents and local, state and national political parties. They strive continually to build upon relationships with the Boards of Education and Finance and all other department heads. |
